Senja is a large islands situated in The Arctic region of Norway. 2 hours drive form Tromso Airport or an hour from Bardufoss. It is easily access yet still holds this feeling of remoteness and unspoilt landscape. The skiing is based from a Lodge in Melfjord in the North West area. It has easy access to many fantastic mountains. Roads circle the island allowing easy travelling to many Fjords and tunnels, created for the fish industry making travelling to different venues very straight forward.
Senja is an ideal placer all levels of skier.A perfect place to learn the basic skills of ski Mountaineering and for the more accomplished skier there are endless steeper descents from summits overlooking the ocean.
Due to Senja situation so far North it is often effected by the Polar High Pressure systems and gets good clear weather. If weather comes in from the ocean you can escape to tree skiing or journey on the inner Mountains in there shelter from the storms. Best seasons for powder is Feb and March but its c common to have powder skiing till May.
